In a recent community-strengthening initiative, the Tom Harris Community Foundation (THCF) has sponsored a van dedicated to the Food4Schools program operated by the Nanaimo-Ladysmith Schools Foundation (NLSF).

This pivotal contribution aims to enhance the operational capabilities of Food4Schools, ensuring timely and efficient food delivery to students across the district.

Food4Schools plays a crucial role in supporting the nutritional needs of nearly 2,100 students daily by providing breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.

The program operates a food depot that facilitates the access, storage, and distribution of donated and bulk-purchased food directly to schools, helping to sustain healthy meal offerings to vulnerable students.

The partnership between THCF and NLSF underscores a shared commitment to fostering community support and addressing food insecurity among students. As community needs grow, the NLSF continues to call for increased local support to maintain and expand its vital services.
