The Tom Harris Community Foundation (THCF) is proud to announce our sponsorship of two upcoming community events: Nanaimo Bathtub Weekend and the 2024 tsetsuw’ hiw’a’lum’ (Coast Salish Games).
Coast Salish Games: July 21st-26th, 2024
This week-long event will see youth athletes aged 7-16 from across the Coast Salish communities competing in various sports, including track and field, basketball, soccer, the bone game, and paddling.
The Games will begin with an opening ceremony on July 21st at 10:00 am, followed by in-person registration. This event not only celebrates athleticism but also fosters connection and community spirit, aligning perfectly with THCF’s mission to support and uplift local communities through charity events and volunteer efforts.
Nanaimo Bathtub Weekend: July 26th-28th, 2024
In addition to supporting the Coast Salish Games, THCF is proud to support the vibrant tradition of the Nanaimo Bathtub Weekend, an event that has showcased the spirit and community of Nanaimo since 1967.
This year hundreds of people will gather at Maffeo Sutton Park for a weekend filled with thrilling races, live music, and family-friendly activities, including the Inflatafun Bouncy Castles, sponsored by yours truly.
In partnership with the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society, we will also be raising funds throughout the weekend for the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation, furthering our commitment to community well-being. These fundraising events are a testament to our dedication to impactful charity fundraisers that benefit our local communities.
Commitment to Community
THCF’s involvement in these significant charity events underscores our dedication to fostering community engagement and supporting initiatives that make a meaningful impact. Our focus is the leaders of tomorrow: education, youth food security, youth sport, and health care. We are proud to partner with organizations like the Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society and the Snuneymuxw First Nation to bring these events to life and contribute to the well-being and unity of our community.
