The Tom Harris Community Foundation is proud to support a project that will help strengthen food security for communities throughout Vancouver Island and the BC coast for years to come.

As the new Loaves & Fishes Community Food Bank headquarters nears completion in Nanaimo, the facility is set to become a vital regional hub for food recovery, storage, and distribution. 

A New Regional Hub for Food Recovery

Designed to increase capacity and improve efficiency, the new centre will help ensure that more food reaches individuals, families, schools, and community organizations facing food insecurity.

In recognition of a $750,000 contribution from the THCF, the new facility will be named the Tom Harris Regional Food Centre.

A Longstanding Community Partner

For decades, Loaves & Fishes has been critical for food security across our region. Through innovative food recovery programs and strong community partnerships, the organization helps redirect quality surplus food to people who need it most while reducing waste and supporting communities from Vancouver Island to the BC coast.

The new regional food centre represents an important investment in the future. With expanded storage capacity, modernized infrastructure, and the ability to accept and distribute larger volumes of food, the facility will help Loaves & Fishes meet growing demand and increase its impact across more than 40 communities.
